De crise em crise, entre o apocalipse financeiro e a pandemia viral, enquanto os mercados se precipitam no abismo, a arte ascendia a investimento de inusitado charme. A arte tornava-se entretanto num «sistema de reserva para dinheiro obtuso, malvado e ganancioso», escreveu Hito Steyerl em 2016. O impulso globalizante que mega-galerias, leiloeiras, feiras e colecionadores trouxeram ao mundo da arte, mimetizou os padrões de expansão da economia neoliberal nas últimas décadas. Mecenas corporativos, redes sociais e precariedade laboral combinam-se para tornarem as artes cénicas postos avançados da ideologia que torna as pessoas em «empresas em nome individual», em todas as aceções da expressão. Arte e capitalismo tornam-se, de maneira mais ou menos consciente, mais ou menos irónica, parte integrante dos modos de vida quotidianos das pessoas. Pessoas cujos desejos e atos se ligam, afinal, a um consumo da arte vivido como usufruto de mercadorias.
From crisis to crisis, between the financial apocalypse and the viral pandemic, while markets plunge into the abyss, art turns out to be an investment of unusual charm. Art became in the meantime a «reserve system for dumb, mean, and greedy money», wrote Hito Steyerl in 2016. The globalizing impulse that mega-galleries, auction houses, fairs and collectors brought to the art world, mimicked the patterns of expansion neoliberal economy in recent decades. Corporate patrons, social networks and precarious work combine to make the performing arts outposts of the ideology that turns people into “individual companies”, in all expressions. Art and capitalism become, more or less consciously, more or less ironically, an integral part of people’s everyday life. People whose desires and actions are linked, after all, to a consumption of art experienced as the enjoyment of commodities.

(pt) É um artista, ativista, escritor e editor. Destaca-se a sua colaboração com o grupo Temporary Services (Copenhaga / Chicago / Filadélfia). Este colectivo trabalha em regime colaborativo, escrevem sobre arte e publicam obsessivamente. Dirigem também a editora Half Letter Press.

Kathrin Röggla (n. 1971)
(pt) É uma autora e dramaturga austríaca, nascida em Salzburgo. Vive em Berlim desde 1992. Kathrin estudou literatura e jornalismo alemão. Ainda em Salzburgo, ela encenou peças e eventos performáticos antes de se dedicar à escrita. Desde então, tem escrito inúmeras obras em prosa, incluindo ensaios, dramas e peças de rádio. O seu trabalho já lhe trouxe numerosos prémios, incluindo o Prémio Nestroy (2010).

In Salzburg she staged plays and performance events before turning her focus to writing. She has written numerous prose works, including essays, drama and radio plays. Keti Chukhrov (n. 1970)
(pt) É uma poeta e académica russa, teórica da arte e filósofa. É professora associada do Departamento de Estudos Culturais da National Research University Higher School of Economics. Entre 2012 e 2017, dirigiu o departamento de Teoria e Pesquisa do Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporânea de Moscovo. Chukhrov é autora de obras sobre teoria da arte, cultura, política e filosofia; entre outras, questiona a antropologia e ontologia da performatividade.
(en) She is a russian poet, academic, art theorist and philosopher. She is an associate professor at the Department of Сultural Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics. In 2012-2017 she was the head of Theory and Research department at the National Center of Contemporary Art, Moscow. Chukhrov has authored numerous texts on art theory, culture, politics, and philosophy; among other, she has dealt with the anthropology and ontology of performativity.
